Play, learn, and keep the score.
Hé Fēn brings together browser play, a rules and strategy library, and an app for scoring physical tiles. Choose a built-in version or bring a house-rules document. The aim is to spend more time enjoying the game and less time untangling the arithmetic.
The website is also useful between games: look up a scoring example, compare variants, or explore a question in the Strategy Lab.
Which rules do the guides describe?
Each guide names a specific Hé Fēn ruleset. Taiwanese Classic uses tai scoring; Taiwanese Club follows the club house sheet. Hong Kong New Style, Japanese Riichi and Chinese Official MCR each have their own reference and strategy guide.
The rules reference is read from the same ruleset data used by the app. That keeps the displayed reference connected to the game’s scoring configuration. Strategy explanations are website editorial content, and Lab results describe particular experiments.
Mahjong traditions do not always agree. Where the built-in rules offer a variation, the guide describes the relevant switch. A guide explains the selected version; it is not a claim that every family or club uses those rules. Compare the reference with your table’s sheet before playing.
What is the Strategy Lab?
The Lab tests specific playing habits in simulated games. Its reports separate the question, the observed result and the limits of the comparison. An experiment can challenge a familiar rule of thumb without proving the best move in every hand.
A little character, a real game.
The manor, its players and the pop-art illustrations are part of Hé Fēn’s visual world. Illustrations are generated with AI using our art direction and reference artwork. Images labeled as app screenshots show the product itself.
Help us make it clearer.
Hé Fēn Mahjong is published by Kojent Partners. Questions and corrections go to the people building the product. For a scoring question, include the variant, the tiles and how the hand was won. For a Lab question, include the finding’s title.
